Loretto Terrace (Dementia Special Care Program)

"A Place to Call Home"

Memory impairment in the elderly is one of the most devastating and debilitating losses experienced by our aging population. Whether it is due to Alzheimer's Disease or other forms of dementia, progression of memory loss slowly strips a person of independence, cognitive ability, self-care skills and security.
The aging process is individual to each person. The years treat some gently, and the process of aging and memory loss does not impinge on independence or cognitive ability. For other, aging is not as gentle. Gradually, changes in behavior and independence indicate the onset of memory impairment.

The Loretto Terrace at Our Lady of the Alleghenies Residence is designed and professionally staffed to offer living accommodations, security and assistance to the elderly with early memory impairment, while maintaining and encouraging independence and personal autonomy.
A residential setting and home-like atmosphere support the spirit of independence and activities of daily living, while ensuring safety and security. A spirit of warm hospitality encourages community living.

Room Accommodations

The Loretto Terrace offers each guest a private living area in a life-enriching, home-like environment that provides the dignity we all seek in our daily lives. Designed for safety and comfort, personal living and common areas are beautifully appointed and elicit peace and tranquility, so important to the guests.
A Country Kitchen and cheerful dining area make mealtime a pleasant experience and encourages interactions with others. To further enrich the Terrace, comfortable parlors, activity areas and a bathing spa provide comfort and stimulation.
The Loretto Terrace is enhanced by a secure outdoor patio with walking paths and tastefully appointed gardens. Guests may independently and safely walk in the patio or enjoy gardening their favorite plants or vegetables.
